ABSTRACTrnThe objective of the research is to discover new settlement sites where safe from a volcano mudflow disaster.rnThis analysis of finding new settlement location uses Geospatial methods, namely GIS and Remote Sensing byrnpeople’s preference location for settling, and whether they are willing to move to a new place. The result of thernanalysis indicates that the secure and suitable location to make a new settlement is in Umbulharjo, Kepuharjo,rnWukirsari, and Argomulyo sub-villages. The questionnaire also reveals that people’s choice on the new place isrnaffected by such reasons as the amount of income, easy access, proximity to the work place, commutingrntransportation, leadership/culture, trauma towards the disaster, and the availability of infrastructure in thernsettlementusing overlay differentiation and scoring technique.
